Wild West Wellness

The Amangiri hotel really caught our eyes, wow!

amangiri-aerial_shot_high_res_2227.jpg

With concrete blackened steel and clean lines in a tonal palette, the architecture at Amangiri is breathtaking. A bold statement with stone flooring and natural timbers, the luxury resort has been done up in a way to fit into the raw desert that surrounds it.
It’s located smack in the middle of America, Amangiri Resort in South Canyon Point

The collaborative effort between architects Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette and Rick Joy created the iconic Amangiri. The design is harmonious with its surroundings, representing Native American Navajo and Pueblo hogan architecture, mirroring the caves regularly found on the desert landscape.

aman-amangiti-_suites_6_high_res_13191.jpg amangiri_oct_19_detail_entrance_1326_1.jpg amangiri_oct_19_exterior_0463_1_0.jpg

The unique resort uses shadow and light with sharp concrete geometry softened by an earthen palette and selection of materials drawn from the Utah desert .

Cracked Gesso by Alexander Lamont

ELInteriorsLondon_Gesso4.jpg

Traditionally a substrate applied to a base material to achve a smooth surface for the application of paint or other materials, gesso has been an important material in traditional European arts.

Gesso is created by combining gypsum powder and hide glue, which is then applied hot in layers then sanded between each layer. Alexander Lamont uses gesso to create special finishing effects.

ELInteriorsLondon_Gesso2.jpg
Inter_occ-tables_Alexander-Lamont_Amaranth-cracked-3.gif

Lamont’s renowned Antique Ivory Crackle Tusk was created to resemble that of a burnished surface of old ivory. It has the same craquelure of an antique sheet of ivory but no elephant was involved in its creation.

Christian Liaigre's Masterpiece in Munich

The stone-clad façade of this impressive residence in Munich appears mausoleum-like.

ELInteriorsLondon_LiaigreMunich5.jpg

The luxurious green onyx appears in the massive walk-in closet adjacent to the master bedroom and continues to the master bathroom.

ELInteriorsLondon_LiaigreMunich2.jpg
ELInteriorsLondon_LiaigreMunich3.jpg

Their most imposing choice is the extensive use of green Italian onyx. In the smaller, casual kitchen huge onyx panels, all cut from the same block of stone, cover the walls. A large block of onyx with rounded corners forms a countertop.

Chic Tuscan Villa

Inspired by Art Deco, interior designer Vincenzo De Cotiis beautifully designed this Tuscan villa located in Forte dei Marmi.

ELInteriorsLondon_Tuscany.jpg ELInteriorsLondon_Tuscany2.jpg

An open-sky lounging area with elegant Vincenzo De Cotiis sunbeds are placed in front of the residence’s gym.

The exterior dining room is used to take in the rays on warm days. Surrounding a table made from recycled wood, De Cotiis included Pierre Jeanneret chairs. The designer’s own glass and metal box sits on the table.

ELInteriorsLondon_Tuscany4.jpg
ELInteriorsLondon_Tuscany3.jpg

The indoor living and room and terrace are one. The sofa is upholstered in linen velvet whereas the outdoor benches are made of marble and outdoor fabric. The wall lamp and the vases are part of the decorator’s Progetto Domestico collection.

The dining room worktop extends into a table, while the ribbed stucco of the ceiling matches the ribs of the stools. Like the chandelier, all has been created by the designer himself.

ELInteriorsLondon_Tuscany5.jpg

In the bedroom, decorative panels are placed like paintings. Hand-dyed fabric has been placed under glass and framed. On the left, a brass and marble nightstand.
